Stage Artist to Heroine to Producer! Illustrious Career with Nearly 500 Movies to her Credit!

Anjali Devi started her acting career as a stage artist during the 1930's and 40's and went on to become a super star in the Telugu and Tamil movie industries. She had an illustrious career spanning several decades with nearly 500 movies to her credit. Though she started her movie career during the late 1930's she gained prominence as a film actress only during the late 40's.  She acted as the leading lady in several movies along side all the famous heroes of the 1940's, 50's and the 60's. She also produced several movies under the banner Anjali Pictures, along with her music director husband, P Adhinarayana Rao. She had show cased her flair for comedy with her commendable performance in the super hit comedy movie Adutha Veettu Penn along with T R Ramachandran and K A Thangavelu. 

This is a super hit song from the super hit movie Manaalane Mangaiyin Bhagyam released in the year 1957, starring Anjali Devi, Gemini Ganesan, Raj Sulochana, Balaji, Kanchana (debut) and others. The movie was produced by her husband who had also composed music for this movie which had several super hit songs in it other than this one. The movie was made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and was a super hit in all three languages. Incidentally the famous Bollywood Music Directors duo Laxmikant Pyarelal were assistants of  P Adhinarayana Rao, Anjali devi's husband, producer and music director of this movie. The song was sung by P Susheela and the Lyrics were written by Thanjai Ramaiah Das.
