Comical Song Featuring an Unsung Comic Actor of Tamil Cinema!

This is a comical song from the 1970 hit movie CID Shankar starring Jaishankar, CID Shakunthala, VS Raghavan, RS Manohar, Thengai Srinivasan and others. The movie was directed by R Sundaram and produced by Modern Theatres. The music was composed by Vedha. This particular song was sung by Ponnusamy and L R Easwari. This comical song was written by Kannadasan. Thengai Srinivasan got his title 'Thengai' from another great Comedy Actor Thangavelu who had given him the title after having watched Thengai Srinivasan's performance as a coconut vendor in a play. Influenced by his father's plays, Thengai Srinivasan had quit his job with ICF in Chennai and pursued an acting career starting with stage plays first. Apart from having done extremely well as a comedian Thengai Srinivasan had also done well in a few leading roles and negative roles. Though he had lost the chance of having made his debut alongside Jaishankar in the movie Iravum Pagalum since the producers had been vary of launching two comers in the same movie, eventually he became a good friend of Jaishankar and had starred along with Jaishankar in most of his early films. Later on Thengai Srinivasan went on to star with MGR and Sivaji in several films well into the 70s. His greatest performance was his role as a fake 'Saamiyar' in the movie Kasethaan Kadavuladaa.
